How to Get Your Square Menu on Google (Automatically)
July 18, 2026 · 6 min read · Levered Technology
If you run a restaurant on Square, there is one place your menu is always perfect: your Square Catalog. It has to be, because it runs your business. Every item, every price, every seasonal special is exactly right. If it weren't, you couldn't ring anyone up.
Now search for your restaurant on Google. Is the menu there? Is it current? For most Square sellers the honest answer is "no" or "sort of": a photo of last year's menu, a stale PDF, or nothing at all. That gap costs you customers every day, and this post explains how we're closing it: automatically, straight from your Square Catalog.
Why your menu belongs on Google
"Menu" is one of the most common words people add to local restaurant searches. Someone deciding between you and the place down the street wants to know three things: what you serve, what it costs, and whether you have what they're craving. Google answers those questions right on your Business Profile, but only if the menu data is there.
- Searchers filter by dish.Google surfaces restaurants by menu items, like "birria tacos near me" or "gluten-free pizza open now." No structured menu, no match.
- AI assistants read the same data. When someone asks ChatGPT or Gemini "where should I get lunch?", the answer comes from structured business data. A machine-readable menu gives them something to recommend you for.
- An empty profile sends people to delivery apps.If Google can't show your menu, hungry searchers tap through to DoorDash or Uber Eats to see it. Then they order there, with a commission coming out of your pocket.
Why keeping it there by hand never works
None of this is news to restaurant owners. The problem is the maintenance. Every time a price changes or a dish rotates, updating the menu online means retyping it in your Google Business Profile, re-exporting a PDF for your website, and fixing the delivery apps. So it gets done once, during a slow week in January, and drifts out of date by spring.
Meanwhile your Square Catalog never drifts, because it can't. You update it the moment something changes, because your business depends on it. The fix for stale online menus isn't more discipline. It's making the place you already maintain the single source of truth for everywhere else.
What we're building: Square as the source of truth
Levered already syncs business data (hours, photos, attributes, menus) to 200+ publishers through direct integrations, including Google, Yelp, Apple Maps, and Bing. What's new is where the menu data comes from. Instead of sending us a menu, you'll connect your Square account once, and your catalog does the rest.
1. Connect Square in one click
You authorize Levered to read your Square Catalog and location details: items, categories, prices, and business hours. That's the entire permission set. We never see payments, customers, or sales data.
2. Your catalog becomes a clean, structured menu
A point-of-sale catalog isn't quite a menu. It has things on it that belong at checkout, not on Google. Delivery fees, open items, gift cards, catering SKUs. We shape your catalog into a proper menu: organized into sections, priced correctly, with the checkout-only clutter filtered out. You review it before anything publishes.
3. It publishes everywhere, and stays current
Your menu goes out to Google and the rest of our publisher network as structured data, the format search engines and AI assistants actually read. From then on, the sync is automatic: Square notifies us the moment your catalog changes, and the update flows out. Change a price in Square, and it changes on Google. Add a special, and it shows up. Your hours and location details stay in sync the same way.
Bonus: the same menu on your own website
The same structured menu also powers an embeddable widget for your website. One line of code, and your site shows a clean, always-current menu instead of a PDF nobody updates. Because the widget includes menu schema markup under the hood, it also feeds search engines and AI assistants directly from your own domain. You can see a live example of the widget here.
